He is promoting the use of renewable energy in the built environment and seeks to address the increasing worldwide resource scarcity.
In 2015 Thomas Rau was nominated for the Fortune Award for Circular Economy Leadership by the World Economic Forum. In 2016 Thomas Rau was referred to as one of the three most influential architects in The Netherlands bij national newspapers.
